WHAT YOU DID

You held my hand,
And we took walks into eternity,
On beaches with sun and sand,
And into the forests away from the city.

You held me tight,
And took me into your dreams,
Away from my nightmares of screams,
Which you muted with your might.

You hugged me close,
To shield me from the storm,
To lift my spirit when I was morose.
You did it as if it was a norm.

You lead me on,
To touch the heights of happiness,
And then dropped me into the abyss,
To die out of loneliness.
